Working at Ford Motor Company as a Body Engineer.

Graduated class of 2007 from Stanford University with a B.S. in Product Design.

Background
I like to make things. That sums me up pretty well. I've always been active in art, beginning with sketch and painting classes when I was young. But I also like to play and my love for art spilled into Legos and model building. Putting the finishing touches on a 1/64th scale B17 bomber made me realize that I wanted to build things. College came around and I decided that Mechanical Engineering was the reasonable path to take.

Stanford
Lucky for me, Stanford has much more to offer in addition to Mechanical Engineering. I found Product Design talking with a friend and voicing my concern that ME seemed too restricting, too narrow in focus. One glance at the curriculum and goals of the Product Design major and I was sold.

Product Design?
Product design is the process of designing with all factors in mind. Aspects such as aesthetics, sustainability, usability, strength and manufacture ability are usually considered separately by industrial designers, engineers, machinists or consultants. But by maintaining a core of engineering fundamentals and expanding a breadth of design perspectives to include those mentioned, more powerful design or design thinking can be achieved. My coursework includes a mixture of engineering fundamentals and visual art classes. My resume contains a more detailed description of my coursework and experiences.
